We, through teaching, service and research, seek to enhance the practice of medicine and to remain a foundation upon which contemporary health care is built.
In teaching: to train competent physicians who promote health and relieve suffering in collaboration with patients and their families, and in cooperation with specialty practitioners.
In service: to provide excellent care to patients in the context of their families and communities, particularly those in underserved and disenfranchised urban settings.
In research: to conduct applied research that enhances both our service and teaching and addresses the needs of those whom we serve.
