HOSPITAL SERVICES AND BENEFITS
The Hospital offers a wide range of services and benefits to its house staff. Included in these benefits are:
Banking Facilities--Chase Manhattan Bank maintains branch offices in the Medical Center. It offers special packages to house staff.
Child Care Center--The Hospital sponsors a child care center for the care of infants, toddlers, and pre-school children.
Emergency Loan Fund--The Hospital has a revolving loan fund available to meet the emergency needs of house staff.
Employee Health--Columbia-Presbyterian's Occupational Health Service is available to house staff who wish to consult with a variety of attending physicians.
Insurance--The Hospital provides generous insurance benefits for house staff and their dependents. Coverage includes:
Health Insurance--The Hospital offers a choice of health insurance plans.
Each plan provides hospitalization, outpatient medical care, prescription drugs, and preventive care through a network of participating medical providers. Out-of-network benefits are available.
Dental Insurance--The Hospital provides a dental care plan for house staff physicians and their dependents.
Vision Care--The Hospital provides a vision care program for house staff and their dependents.
Disability Insurance--The Hospital provides a disability insurance program designed especially for house staff.
Life Insurance--The Hospital provides twice the house staff's annual salary in life insurance.
Malpractice Insurance--The Hospital provides malpractice insurance for professional medical activities that are performed at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital within the scope of an approved training program.
Parking--The Hospital maintains several parking facilities available to house staff. Costs vary.
Salary--Residents at each level of training are paid a competitive and graded salary that compensates for the higher cost of living in New York.
Sick Days/Maternity Leave--Members of the house staff are entitled to 30 paid sick days annually. The Hospital provides for generous maternity leave.
Housing--There is a housing office that can help residents locate housing.
